Dr. Li Yang is a Professor at CAS-MPG Partner Institute for Computational Biology, Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences since 2011. He received his B.S. degree in Biochemistry at Lanzhou University in 1998 and Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2004. After that, he joined Dr. Sidney Altman’s lab at Yale University from 2004-2006 and then Dr. Brenton R. Graveley’s lab at University of Connecticut Health Center from 2007 to 2010 for postdoctoral training. Dr. Yang has been working in the field of molecular and computational biology for over 18 years. In the last several years, his group has applied the-state-of-the-art next-generation deep-sequencing technologies together with biochemical methods and specific computational strategies to identify, profile and characterize new types of long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs). He has published nearly 60 papers in peer-reviewedjournals, including Cell, Cell Stem Cell, Molecular Cell, Genome Research and etc.
